About PROTIS Project
The PROTIS project (2023-2026) is a French-Swiss scientific endeavour dedicated to the next generation of more cost-effective, corrosion-resistant stainless steel-based porous transport layers (PTL) for proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolyzers within the context of reduction of capital expenditures. The project notably lays emphasis on novel thin films for PTL protection and the development of ex situ and in situ accelerated stress tests. The consortium includes the French Corrosion Institute, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa, Materials for Energy Conversion), the Université de Lorraine (LEMTA, Laboratoire Énergies et Mécanique Théorique et Appliquée). This synergistic project is funded by the French National Research Agency and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
