About Push Towards Merit (PTM)
Push Towards Merit (PTM) is a New Delhi-based, student-led initiative to make legal education inclusive for deprived students. Professionals, academics, and senior students mentor the deprived students & get them the exposure they lack at home/law school. In 2018, PTM was founded by Husain Aanis Khan with the goal of making legal education more accessible and inclusive. Research confirms that high quality legal education in India is exclusive (Khan 2019 and Jain et al 2016) for disadvantaged salient social groups in India. We have successfully trained deprived students in public speaking and discussions. To enhance their understanding of the legal profession, we also provided students with internships and one-on-one mentorship. Mission: To make higher quality legal education more accessible and inclusive, and helping students improve their speaking, reading, and research skills. Vision: To create a nation-wide mechanism for mentorship of deprived students and a network of supporters to provide simple solutions to sincere, hardworking law students.
