Ragged Branch Distillery makes Virginia Straight Bourbon Whiskey at our farm-to-table operation located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The raw crop is grown on land owned or leased by Ragged Branch. Every drop of bourbon is mashed-in, grinding the crop fresh daily and distilled. It is barreled in new, 53 gallon, charred, white oak barrels, aged, and bottled directly on the land on which the crop is grown. Sourmash is fed to our livestock which we harvest, producing a uniquely full-flavored beef, adding in our recycled water, making our operation its own ecosystem. Ragged Branch has two award-winning bourbon recipes. Our Wheated Straight Bourbon Whiskey uses wheat as a flavor component and our Signature Straight Bourbon Whiskey using rye as a flavor component. Each of these recipes is unique unto themselves with very pleasant flavors that accent the land where the crop is grown. Ragged Branch’s motto is “we do everything old school, right and right now."
