Every day, we Indians consume more than 2.5 crore cups of coffee that generates 500 tons of coffee waste A.K.A. spent coffee grounds per day, all of which either ends up in landfills, anaerobic digesters, or incinerators that release harmful greenhouse gases like Methane and Carbon di-oxide upon its treatment. As per the research study, 1 ton of spent coffee grounds sent to landfills is equivalent to car travel emission from Delhi to Bangalore and back. We believe spent coffee grounds are much more than a waste, rather it is a wasted opportunity! At Recaff, we are building India's 1st coffee waste bio-refinery by diverting spent coffee grounds from current inefficient treatment methods and extracting the maximum possible value out of it, all by using green technologies.
