Ariadne’s thread logic: It is a very interesting way to solve a problem by multiple means through an exhaustive application of logic to all available routes. The key element to applying this method is the creation and maintenance of a record (referred to as the thread) of the problems available and exhausted at all times. The record's purpose is to allow backtracking to reverse earlier decisions and try alternatives. This technique exhausts the search space completely, finding any and all solutions. It is often combined with the heuristic practice referring to experienced-based approaches for problem-solving, learning, and discovering which I am a staunch defender of. Red thread as guideline/ leitmotiv: In French, my mother tongue, it is a very common expression. The right metaphor for it in English would be the guiding thread referring to a guiding idea or a recurring element that ensures the coherence and consistency of a story or a presentation by serving as the reference point. It is accepted that this expression would come from a text by Goethe “Elective Affinities” mentioning a red thread inside the ropes serving as a benchmark to recognize its belonging in the royal fleet. It was the core holding the rope together and couldn’t be removed without undoing entirely. And all the above, this is exactly what I intend to bring to all my clients.
