RENEWPORT

RENEWPORT – Harnessing RENEWable energy potential for clean energy transition of MED PORTs – is an Interreg Euro-MED 2021–2027 funded project coordinate by the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea. The project brings together key port authorities and stakeholders to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution in port areas, making MED ports greener, healthier, and more sustainable. While maritime transport remains the greenest option for large-scale freight, port operations still rely heavily on fossil fuels—especially in densely populated coastal areas. RENEWPORT tackles this challenge by helping ports unlock their renewable energy potential (RES), through joint planning, tools, and solutions. Our mission? To transform MED ports from energy consumers into clean energy producers—improving air quality, reducing emissions, and supporting the EU’s climate goals. RENEWPORT is also part of the Green Living Areas Mission, which aims to enhance the quality of life in the Mediterranean by fostering green development, reducing climate impacts on ecosystems, and strengthening local climate resilience. 🤝 10 partners + 3 associated partners across the MED region 🕒 Duration: 33 months (Jan 2024 – Sep 2026) 💶 Budget: €2.99M (€2.39M EU co-funding)
