The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted a series of paradoxes inherent to the unknown–unknown situations. The resultant unexpected events lay below the management control radar and most leaders had never dealt with such magnitude of disruption before. Immediate response was not to cower down or return to the past but to build a framework for survival. Varying imperatives emerged for adoption to outmaneuver the present crisis and shape the post pandemic world. But the abstruse ‘next’ state will call for the emergence of Insight where Knowledge sufficed hitherto, a line of flight in the place of a point of action; a move away for organizations to adapt to ‘resilience’ in place of ’stability’. While organizationally it means to have to abandon the hierarchical top down, command and control structure of a ‘Tree’ to a laterally spreading organization like a ‘Rhizome’, the information architecture should embody inherent intelligence, that, like a ‘Geodesic’, will facilitate connection between any two nodes of event of an ecosystem on the shortest path, connecting highest level of parent to the lowest level of child on a single string. The combination of rhizome and geodesic brings up the power of ‘Rhizodesic’, a harbinger of Digital Transformation of Business. The flat Rhizodesic Organization (as opposed to a hierarchical tree shaped organization) with inherent capability of high-level collaboration among enterprise assets (machine) and process (people and method), will embed adaptability and alignment of the digitally born agile organization and proffer resilience and build finesse required to assess impacts arising from unknown-unknown future shocks of a black swan event.
