iRIS-2024, a hybrid event, will be held in London between 16 and 18 April 2024. Experts from leading academic institutions, E&P and mineral resource companies, geoscience research groups and imaging equipment manufacturers will share their experience of how to take advantage of the multiple imaging modes and scales on offer. The program will be available on the website and registration will open in early January.
Rock imaging is a rapidly expanding science that uses a range of advanced technologies to gather digital data that, when processed and interpreted, can provide direct quantitative information of many rock properties over scales ranging from m to nm. Imaging techniques include simple 1D digital profiles of various properties down a length of core material; 2D imaging over a variety of wavelengths: infrared, white light, ultraviolet, X-ray; 2D and 3D scanning electron and ion microscopy; and 3D/4D X-ray CT imaging.
