River Hawk Racing (RHR) serves as the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Chapter at UMass Lowell. RHR participates in the FSAE (Formula SAE) Competiton hosted annually in both Michigan and Nebraska and needs a variety of students of different majors and backgrounds in order to succeed.
Formula SAE® is one of several collegiate design competitions sanctioned by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) for student members, which challenges students to produce a racecar in a simulated startup company environment.
In contrast with some other engineering-related clubs, River Hawk Racing succeeds most from including students of various backgrounds and majors, including but not limited to, engineering, business, marketing, accounting, and graphic design.
