Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) is an integral part of occupational health & safety. LEV systems are designed and installed to control the harmful substances in the work place (mainly dusts and fumes). They are used in almost every industry imaginable, from pharmaceutical manufacturing to wood-working. You will find them in a variety of locations from schools or universities to oil refineries. Their perpose is very simple, to protect the men, women and children that come into contact with harmful substances on a daily basis.
The HSE in the UK and the HSA in Ireland give clear guidance on LEV systems and how they should be designed, installed, commissioned, maintained and tested. This is guidance that all employers, employees, businesses, equipment suppliers and LEV engineers must all adhere to under the health and safety at work act.
Every LEV system should have a statutory thorough examination and test at least once every 14 months ,in most cases. (Similar to a car haveing its annual safety check . MOT/NCT certificate)
At Roundstone- Environmental Ltd, it is our job to carry out these tests and advise clients on how to overcome any issues that may be discovered during the tests. We also consult and advise clients on the requirements for new LEV systems to control a new process or a change in material to an existing process
Our engineers are qualified to the British Occupational Hygeine Society (B.O.H.S) standard. They are also members of the Industry of Local Exhaust Ventillation Engineers (I.L.E.V.E.) .
The B.O.H.S's "p-series" set of qualifications and it's Certificate of Competencey in Control are currently the only qualifications specifically aimed at LEV engineers, all of which are held by our engineers.
