The name Runners with Beards was born from a simple observation. In a group of runners, it's often the ones with beards who are the 'crazy' ones. The ones that push. The misfits to clean-cut society.
This stereotype of the rugged runner became a metaphor for the people in any group who push outside of comfort zones, to discover something more, for themselves and for others.
