800 scientists and around 2100 students from more than 81 nations make the Saarland Informatics Campus (SIC) one of the leading locations for computer science in Germany and Europe. Five globally renowned research institutes, namely the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science, the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, the Center for Bioinformatics and the Cluster for "Multimodal Computing and Interaction", as well as Saarland University with three collaborating departments and 21 academic programs cover all areas of computer science. The renowned computer science institutes research both the fundamentals and new applications of computer science, thus enriching in particular the fields of IT security, artificial intelligence, visual computing, bioinformatics and semantic web. The Leibniz Center for Computer Science at Schloss Dagstuhl in Wadern, a world-renowned conference venue for computer scientists, is also part of the Saarland Informatics Campus, which not only cooperates with corporations such as Google, Microsoft and Facebook, but also promotes numerous spin-offs with its IT incubator. Saarland Informatics Campus receives top marks for teaching, maintains an impressive international network, and trains tomorrow's leaders for industry and academia.
