Saint Gereon of Thebaid was Imperial Roman soldier. He was martyred with 290 other Christians on order of emperor Maximian for refusing to sacrifice to pagan gods to obtain victory in battle. He was beheaded c.304 in either Xanten or Bonn in Germany and relics are at Cologne Cathedral in Germany.
