There are more students looking for shadowing opportunities than doctors willing to provide them, making shadowing incredibly difficult and time-consuming for undergraduate students. Doctors, on the other hand, aren't always sure whether students are genuinely interested, making them wary of accepting students. At Shadowing at Michigan, we hope to solve this communication gap by pairing students with doctors. We screen applicants for interest and solid academic performance, which gives doctors the confidence they need to allow students to shadow them.
