Sarofim Foundation was established by Fayez Sarofim, prior to his death, in gratitude for the opportunities this country and Houston provided him as an emigrant from his native Egypt.
Throughout his life Mr. Sarofim exhibited an unshakable faith in what was possible through a steadfast and a disciplined approach to excellence, hard work and trust in others. These are the same principles that guide Sarofim Foundation forward today.
With a relentless optimism that would characterize his approach throughout his lifetime, Mr. Sarofim founded Fayez Sarofim & Co. in 1958, to become the largest investment advisory firm in the Southwest. Quietly, patiently, and with a consistent vision anchored in his belief in “betting on people as the most important thing,” early clients included many non-profits, endowments, and foundations that shaped his personal philanthropic vision. The result of his generosity has had a significant, lasting impact on the Houston community and beyond, particularly in education, healthcare and the arts.
