SATO Vicinity is an R&D company specializing in Phase Jitter Modulation (PJM) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). In addition to R&D SATO Vicinity also manufactures all PJM RFID products and provides PJM RFID related training and support for global SATO offices internally and externally for PJM customers. PJM RFID started with the Perth based company Magellan Technology Pty Ltd. In December 2013 SATO Holdings Corporation acquired Magellan’s Intellectual Property for PJM RFID and established SATO Vicinity to continue the development and commercialization of PJM RFID. SATO Holdings Corporation (HQ) is based in Tokyo. The capabilities of PJM RFID align with SATO’s corporate motto of “Ceaseless Creativity” and its potential benefits align with SATO’s corporate values “to contribute to a better and more sustainable world.” PJM technology is recognized as the ISO Standard ISO18000-3 Mode 2 and globally available for unrestricted use in many diverse applications. PJM RFID is widely used for tracking high value items in the healthcare industry including orthopedic and medical devices, and blood transfusion products. PJM RFID is also used in other application areas including gaming token, diamond, and legal document tracking. In addition, PJM is the only RFID technology specifically mentioned in the International Society for Blood Transfusions RFID guidelines for its suitability for product tracking in transfusion medicine.
