At A.D. Engineering, I carried out product development and testing for several commercial projects. My work included:- Designing a variety of custom electronic systems for commercial and industrial applications- Designing schematics and Printed Circuit Boards for through hole and SMD component based circuits- Prototyping and validation/compliance testing of products before mass-manufacture- Incorporating embedded or microcontroller based systems into products to allow for sophisticated control and data acquisition- Developing custom software applications to allow system control using user friendly GUIs

Everyone will be driving Electric Vehicles in the near future. There will be no need to go to a gas station; and instead electric power will be available from the roadway to power the EV. Using this technology, vehicles will receive power as they move. My research is on developing methods of powering EVs wirelessly as they drive along a highway or motorway. The research continues on from cutting edge work undertaken by the Power Electronics Research Group who were pioneers in the field of wireless or inductive power transfer (IPT) in the late 90's, and who are currently world leaders in the field. My research focused on:- Magnetics design, simulation, and experimental testing.- Designing and testing of various power electronics stages for IPT-EV chargers.- Investigating methods to control power transfer to the EV as it drives along the highway. - A novel method to detect EVs as they travel along the highway to allow power transfer to be initiated only when an EV is present.

Teaching Assistant for a wide range of undergraduate engineering courses in EEE and Mechatronics units.- Delivered lectures on basic PCB design and layout.- Conducted interviews to assess students for design projects.- Marked tests and reports.- Helped to verify the accuracy of an online student testing software (OASIS).- Attended teaching assistant training courses for professional development.

Researched methods to increase the power transfer capability of Inductive Power Transfer couplers.- Explored various methods to improve the magnetic design of IPT couplers to increase coupling and hence power transfer.- Investigated methods of minimising leakage electromagnetic fields by field shaping and shielding.- Assembled a 1 kW 40 kHz inductive power transfer (IPT) power supply.

Assembler for a leading worldwide fruit sorting company. Duties included:- Wiring of industrial electrical panels.- Assembly of electrical looms.- Assembly of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).- Attended training in Electro-Static Discharge (ESD).
