SchoolSmartKC (SSKC) is an education based non-profit organization founded in 2017; our organization has been partnering with public schools within the boundaries of the Kansas City Public School (KCPS) district to serve the city’s most historically disadvantaged students since its inception. In the five years since our inception, SSKC has committed over $32 million in funding into these public schools, both district and charter schools, and the organizations that support their students.
SchoolSmartKC’s goal is to close the achievement gap for Kansas City students and aims to see Kansas City schools performing at or above national and state averages within ten years. The SSKC approach uses a robust, data-driven model to identify where disparities and inequities exist and where opportunities are present to see significant improvement. The organization then makes strategic investments to improve school quality and provide tangible solutions to meet student needs.
