One of the most significant events our Scoring Together fundraising organization puts on is the Eric Begehr Memorial Fundraiser, which is a charity soccer match pitting Ohio's finest high-school talent against an all-star team including multiple Division 1 college players, two professional players, and myself. This event serves as a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Eric Begehr, my dad, who lost his battle with prostate cancer on January 29, 2022. Eric's vibrant spirit, his love for sports, and his unwavering commitment to family and friends left an indelible mark on all of us.
Eric's roots in Cincinnati, his pride in being an alumnus of St. Xavier High School, and his collegiate experience playing on the Division 1 soccer team at Ohio University make this fundraiser all the more meaningful. Eric's passion for sports extended beyond his own endeavors; he dedicated his time to coaching my sister and me in various sports, spreading joy and enthusiasm wherever he went. He had a unique gift for connecting with people, and he left a trail of smiles and familiar faces wherever he ventured.
The Eric Begehr Memorial Fundraiser is a celebration of life, a tribute to the beautiful game of soccer that Eric cherished, and a heartfelt commitment to supporting charities that have a positive impact on those affected by cancer. In our inaugural year, we achieved an incredible milestone by raising a remarkable $16,000 in funds. These proceeds were directed towards two exceptional organizations: the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Fernside Center for Grieving Children.
The following year, our dedication and passion for this cause shone through once again as we successfully raised $14,000. These funds were channeled towards supporting the American Cancer Society and Companions on a Journey, organization
