About Fairplay's Screen Time Action Network
The Screen Time Action Network is a project of Fairplay, the leading independent watchdog of children's media and marketing industries. Fairplay’s Screen Time Action Network is a collaborative global community of practitioners, educators, parents, youth, and advocates working to reduce excessive and harmful screen use in childhood. We offer an expansive resource library, host forums and webinars, and run Screen Free Week. The heart of the Action Network is our 7 volunteer work groups: Our Screens in Schools Work Group focuses on the unique challenges screens create in a school setting and how to best address them. They have put together a fantastic Screens in Schools Action Kit. Our Cyberbullying & Online Safety Work Group seeks to shine a light on life-threatening online harms including dangerous challenges, illegal drug sales and cyberbullying. Hear their stories in the Harms podcast. Our Early Childhood Work Group focuses on the early years. They believe that while technology has changed a great deal, what children need to thrive has not. Their Screen Aware Action Kit will be released in early 2023. Our Interfaith Work Group includes members from diverse faith communities and addresses the profound impact screens are having on children’s character and spiritual development. Our Nature & Play Work Group is on a mission to restore texture, color, weather, and wonder to children’s early years. Our Parent Educator Work Group and Mental Health Work Group are undergoing transformations. Stay tuned for updates. If you are interested in applying to join a work group, go to our website's "get involved" tab. If you’d like to get invites to exclusive Action Network events and our weekly News You Can Use, become a member (it’s fast and free). If you are a doctor or mental health professional and are interested in providing us with quotes or insights, please email lauren@fairplayforkids.org. Or if you just want to reach out to connect, please do!
