Student Counselling Services, IIT(BHU)

The Student Counselling Services (SCS), also known as “SAKHA”, is an Institute level faculty-student body at IIT(BHU). It consists of 10 faculty members and 150+ students, primarily focused on the holistic development of 9000+ students on campus. In order to tackle the diverse issues faced by the student community, SCS has 5 councils - Wellness, Academics, Career, Skill Development and International Exchange, with a specialised operations vertical in public relations, publicity, and finance. SCS works with the Institute’s on-campus counsellor, Dr Laxman Yadav, and Ms Soumya Srivastava, an integral part of the Wellness Council. Dr Laxman can be reached conveniently at the library (weekdays, 4-7 PM), and Ms Soumya can be reached at the Medical Room, GSC Hostel (weekdays, 4-8 PM). SCS collaboratively works with the Institute Wellness Partner - YourDost, with a vast number of counsellors to facilitate the counselling needs of every student from the comfort of their hostel dorms. Over the span of five years, SCS has conducted 300+ events, with a content library of 250+ videos on its YouTube channel and a lifetime watch time of 1M+ minutes with a subscriber base of 1.9K+. In the past, we have hosted influential guest speakers like Sri Sri Ravishankar (Founder, Art of Living Foundation), Dr HC Verma (Author & Prof, IITK), Mr Rakesh Sarin (Founder, WellM), Major Vivek Jacob (Founder, CLAW), Mr Sachin Jain (IAS), Major Arun Ambathy (Director, CLAW), Ms Shruti Dhiman (Miss Asia Glamour Semifinalist), Ms Neelu Mishra (WMAC Medalist), Amal M Das (Author, IIT KGP), Mr Nimai Lila Das (IISc), Mr Farhad Acidwalla (Tedx speaker).
