Our motto is “Come for the Italian. Stay for the Italians.” ScuolaScuola challenges the language learning paradigm by redefining the experience of language as an expression of culture rather than as a collection of words and rules. We bring to Toronto a truthful piece of Italy, of Italian culture and lifestyle. We not only educate, we rather entertain and facilitate. We provide students with the instruments they need to accomplish measurable and realistic goals that are relevant to their usage of Italian, based on their needs and previous experience with the language. This allows us to customize learning materials and to focus more on how ‘to communicate’ than ‘how to be fluent’ at a beginner phase. We use a Learning Management System: no paper, students learn from each other's mistakes participating in private online Discussion forums that allow them to extend the use of Italian outside of the class. Our group classes offer the possibility to study in a low-pressure environment where students can learn from each other's mistakes while being exposed to Italian 2 hours per week and participating in group exercises that facilitate conversation. Most importantly, class sizes are capped at a maximum of 6 participants to devote attention to each student's needs. Our private lessons offer more flexibility in terms of location and number of lessons per week. During private sessions, we are able to understand better the learning style of the learner and to customize materials based on his/her needs. We follow the student pace and decide together whether to focus more on grammar, reading or conversation. We design events embedding the Italian lifestyle, recreating an Italian environment through food, music, conversation topics and much more. We often partner with leaders in the industry that offer entertainment opportunities to the Italian community in North America.
