Seattle Messenger Cooperative was founded in 2016. We are a collectively owned, Seattle-based messenger service that makes decisions as a team and provides efficient, environmentally sustainable, and value-aligned services to various businesses within Seattle and the greater Washington State area. We deliver things fast no matter what the traffic looks like, and pride ourselves on using bicycles as our primary means of transportation to minimize pollution while completing deliveries.
Many companies have business models where the messenger does most of the work but is paid only a small commission for their effort. Standard business hierarchies, bureaucracy and poor compensation can leave the average courier handling your packages not feeling devoted to ensuring quality service. We never liked feeling that way. Here at Seattle Messenger Cooperative, your deliveries are not only our bread and butter, but also our passion.
Since our start six years ago, we have expanded our clientele from a few small legal, food, and commercial organizations within Seattle's city limits to a wider array of local businesses throughout Washington State. We prioritize maintaining small business clientele that are locally owned and provide discounts for organizations that do not have a large profit margin to ensure that delivery is more equitable.
Seattle Messenger Cooperative is a cooperative business. Each of us are owners and hold responsibility within the company. In turn, we are fully invested in providing the best service we can for every delivery. At SMC, you avoid the middleman and work directly with the backbone of the company. We have seen what it takes to run a successful courier service and have dedicated our lives to creating a company that better serves not only us as couriers, but also our clients.
