About Second Chance
Our organization breaks the cycle of incarceration, helping people who are ready to change find true independence, learn healthier ways of living and become self-sufficient and contributing members of society. Through a series of programs and services, at-risk and justice-involved people learn to use the tools they need to succeed for the long run. Our programs are a solution to the broken economics of the current criminal justice system, which is both expensive and ineffective. Our Mission: To disrupt the cycles of incarceration and poverty by helping people towards empowered self-sufficiency. Our Vision: Our communities should foster empowered self-sufficiency for all. Where people from different backgrounds and histories have the opportunity to become independent citizens who thrive and give back to society. Our Core Values: to accomplish our mission and realize our vision, Second Chance is focused on our IMPACT Inclusivity: Prioritize the needs and aspirations of our San Diego communities. Equip people with the tools and confidence for self-sufficiency. Multifaceted Equity: Address systemic inequities. Ensure inclusiveness in all our programs. Partnership: Collaborate with other organizations and community leaders. Adopt a holistic view to tackle root causes and challenges. Accountability: Uphold honesty and consistency in our actions. Foster credibility and garner support through transparent engagements and stewardship. Demonstrate successful interventions leading to positive outcomes for participants. Comprehensive Compassionate Care: Recognize the profound impacts of trauma on our program participants. Tailor support mechanisms to the unique experiences of each participant. Encourage a culture of perpetual growth, updated with the latest in trauma-informed care. Transformative Adaptability: Embrace innovative solutions to community challenges. Remain responsive and flexible to changing needs and feedback.
