SEMBE

SEMBE is a woman-led organization operating in Far North Cameroon since 2017. Founded by Ms Agha-Nwi Fru, a Journalist and Humanitarian worker, it has implemented 5 major projects including phase 1 &2 of the project dubbed 'Community-based mental health supports for youth in conflict affected communities in Cameroon’s Far North Region' funded by Grand Challenges Canada, UK Aid and the National Institute of Health Research. It has also implemented the 'Strengthening youth capacity in countering violence extremism project' thanks to funding from the Global Center on Cooperative Security. Sembe means ‘strength in the local ‘fulfulde’ language, widely spoken in Cameroon's Northern Regions. Our mission is to build resilience in conflict impacted communities so that they can find lasting solutions to their common problems. SEMBE est une organisation dirigée par des femmes qui opère dans l'Extrême-Nord du Cameroun depuis 2017. Fondée par Mme Agha-Nwi Fru, une journaliste et travailleuse humanitaire, elle a mis en œuvre 5 projets majeurs dont la phase 1 &2 du projet baptisé " Soutien à la santé mentale à base communautaire pour les jeunes dans les communautés touchées par les conflits dans la région de l'Extrême-Nord du Cameroun " financé par Grand Challenges Canada, UK Aid et l'Institut national de recherche en santé. Elle a également mis en œuvre le projet "Strengthening youth capacity in countering violence extremism" grâce à un financement du Global Center on Cooperative Security. Sembe signifie "force" dans la langue locale "fulfulde", largement parlée dans les régions septentrionales du Cameroun. Notre mission est de renforcer la résilience des communautés touchées par les conflits afin qu'elles puissent trouver des solutions durables à leurs problèmes communs.
