Since 2014, researchers from the Philipps-Universität Marburg, the Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, the Herder-Institut für historische Ostmitteleuropaforschung and the University of Bamberg have been conducting transdisciplinary research at the Collaborative Research Centre Transregio (SFB) 138 "Dynamics of Security. Forms of securitisation in historical perspective", which the DFG is now funding in its 3rd funding phase. Around 50 researchers from the disciplines of history, peace and conflict studies, political science, law and sociology are investigating how ideas of security have changed historically and how they find expression in the development and implementation of political measures. Of particular interest are the mutually dependent processes of the representation and production of security in their respective historical contexts. The SFB subsumes these dynamic processes under the term "securitisation".
