SHILLING SPEAKERS

Shilling Speakers is an online Toastmasters International club offering fun, dynamic meetings while providing an educational programme focused on skills in public speaking, communication, online presentation and leadership. You will find us very friendly. We are also truly representative of Toastmasters International as we have dual members from overseas and our President visits many clubs on all continents, inviting others to our club, including guest speakers. All of our meetings have a theme and sometimes we arrange special events around educational topics or with guest speakers. We started in 2020 and chartered after just 6 months and in 2020/21, achieving President's Distinguished status and currently count: - 10 Distinguished Toastmasters (DTMs) - 7 Advanced Toastmasters - 11 New Toastmasters within the last year - 17 dual members of more than one club - 4 TEDx speakers. Our experienced members keep the standard high in our club and also support the new members who learn quickly. Our President, Violeta Saladiene, is an award-winning speaker who brings her extensive business experience to fore in leading the club. The name of our Club was chosen in honour of Beatrice Shilling: one of the first women to become aeronautical engineer. She designed and developed "Miss Shilling's orifice" to restrict fuel flow to the carburettor of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engines in the Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire fighters.
