Sigma2 AS has strategic responsibility for the national e-infrastructure for large-scale data- and computational science in Norway. We also coordinate Norway's participation in international collaborations on e-infrastructure.
We provide our services to individuals and groups involved in research and education at all Norwegian universities and colleges, and other publicly funded organisations and projects. We manage our services in collaboration with the Universities in Bergen, Oslo and Tromsø, and NTNU. This collaboration is called NRIS (Norwegian research infrastructure services).
Sigma2 is mandated to provide services for high-performance computing and data storage to individuals and groups involved in research and education at all Norwegian universities and colleges, and other publicly funded organisations and projects.
The Sigma2 activities are jointly financed by the Research Council of Norway (RCN) and the Sigma2 consortium partners, which are the universities in Bergen, Oslo, Trondheim and Tromsø.
The business is run non-profit. Sigma2 is a subsidiary of Sikt (Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research) and our head office is in Trondheim.
