Smith Powder Coating, LLC sandblasts all steel down to a "White Finish" To clean the metal of all impurities such as, oil, rust, corrosion, mill scale and laser scale. If these impurities are left on the surface they will create an improper bond between steel and primer as well as offer areas for rust and corrosion to start. After Sandblasting a small molecule epoxy primer is applied that melts deep into the profiled surface of the metal that was created by sandblasting. The primers only function is to serve as the bonding agent between steel and powder.
