Sobriety Sounds Inc

Sobriety Sounds is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Rochester NY. Our mission is to make instruments, writing space, recording equipment, and music education consistently accessible to the addiction recovery community. Our space is a free service that will focus on everything music related. We believe that although existing addiction recovery services can be very effective in the short-term, because addiction is a chronic condition requiring long term maintenance our organization will supplement where other organizations fall short. This means we will: 1. Have regular and consistent operating hours. This will help cast a wider net in hopes of being available when needed most. 2. Have appealing qualities. Music heals in a very universal way and our board of directors is made up of people in recovery, musicians, and audio engineer professionals. 3. Be accessible. We will either be accessible by public transportation or make it easy for the people of Rochester to get to us. Our space will be filled with musical instruments and writing space. Each seat will be a full station, consisting of a writing desk, free notebooks/pens/pencils, small amplifier, music stand, instrument stand, and waste basket. Available to sign out for free are tuners, capos, cords, and studio headphones, and more. We also bring instruments into rehab facilities. To help fund our mission, we have created the SBS (Sobriety Sounds) Musicians Network. Through this, your organization can support Sobriety Sounds by hiring a musician in our network. All the musicians in our network are vetted through a detailed application and decision process and are either in recovery or meet the standards we would expect from a sober musician. This takes the hard work out of hiring talent for your event and is a great way to support Sobriety Sounds which receives a 20% donation out of the gig payment.
