Methanol plant is located in the region of Garadagh, 25th km of Salyan highway. The construction of the plant started 2008 and it was ready to commence the production of methanol in the year of 2013. The plant became the first production facility in Azerbaijan in the field of petrochemical industry at the date of its initial production.
The methanol production in Azerbaijan is being executed under the management of “SOCAR Methanol” LLC, a subsidiary of SOCAR. The main raw material used in the production process of publicly owned methanol plant is natural gas and it is being supplied by SOCAR. The presence of SOCAR makes the plant operate more efficiently while staying environment-friendly also.
95% of produced methanol is being efficiently exported to European and Asian markets through the infrastructure of SOCAR Logistics. Western Europe, Black Sea, and Mediterranean Sea countries are among the methanol exported countries. Alongside with export, a local market sale is being improved continuously.
The plant with the annual production capacity of 650 -700 thousand tons, created jobs for more than 350 employees whose average age is 36.
Plant premises huge perspectives due to the high demand increase in methanol market as it is one the most widely used intermediate chemical.
Based on the methanol production “SOCAR Methanol” LLC is conducting the research work on new products that will soon be introducing “Made in Azerbaijan” seal under the SOCAR brand to the end users.
