Die Solothurner Filmtage sind das bedeutendste Festival für den Schweizer Film. Jahr für Jahr im Januar präsentieren die Filmtage im "Forum" eine repräsentative Auswahl an aktuellen Schweizer Filmen. Die Werkschau wird ergänzt mit zwei exklusiven Spezialprogrammen: dem Programm "Rencontre" und dem Programm "Invitation".
Während neu 8 Tagen wird Solothurn zum Ort der Begegnungen und des Dialogs zwischen Film, Politik und Kultur. Die Schweizer Filmakademie ist zu Gast am Festival. Sie wählt die Kandidaten für den Schweizer Filmpreis "Quartz" und gibt diese am Ende der Filmtage an der "Nacht der Nominationen" feierlich bekannt.
Das Filmprogramm widerspiegelt die Vielfalt des nationalen Filmschaffens, soll anregen, unterhalten, die Sinne fordern und unser Blickfeld weiten. Für dieses Kino und seine Macher stehen die Solothurner Filmtage seit 46 Jahren ein.
