Sorrel Leaf Healing Center's comprehensive system of care currently serves the needs of Humbold County’s youth in crisis ages 7 through 17 through our Youth Crisis Support (YCS) mobile response program.
Our nonprofit mental health organization offers transformative, compassionate, evidence-based and trauma-informed care for young people experiencing a mental health crisis in Humboldt County, with a plan to expand to the surrounding counties upon opening of the first Children’s Crisis Residential Program (CCRP) of its kind in Northern California.
What will be unique of our residential program, opening in Spring 2026, will be breaking away from the traditional clinical and restrictive hospital-based model by offering a more supportive, whole-body, therapeutic and community-centered approach to care.
Mental health interventions will be rooted in a mindfulness model that focuses on embodied healing and connection to self, community and to the land, through the use of art mediums, music, movement, farming, animal therapy, as well as cultural community peer partner support, to name a few.
