Spatial Exploration

Established in 2014 as a specialist consultancy providing marine fauna mitigation and survey environmental advisory services, Spatial Exploration developed through a passion for data-driven tools for environmental management workflows. Our core product is the MMO Range Finder app for iOS and Android devices. Marine Mammal Observers mitigate the potential impact of sound exposure on marine fauna during geophysical surveys, naval active-sonar exercises, UXO clearance, or civil engineering projects. MMO Range Finder assists the observer in making mitigation decisions by calculating the distance from the animal to the source of acoustic interference using a trigonometric cosine function as well as converting binocular reticules to horizontal distance depending on the observer height above sea level. The MMO Range Finder has over 1,000 users worldwide, including dozens of professional Marine Mammal Observers across offshore renewables, oil and gas, piling, dredging, and UXO programs.
