Spin A Yarn India has created a platform to enable “Storytellers” to come together to discover and share their passion for stories. A community of creators, dreamers and explorers united by their love for great stories. Reading aloud to children has been shown to improve reading, writing and communication skills, logical thinking and concentration, and general academic aptitude, as well as inspire a lifelong love of reading. Spin-A-Yarn, streams videos featuring grandmothers, grandfathers, mothers and fathers reading children’s books in Indian Regional Languages (Marathi, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, etc.) alongside creatively produced illustrations. Nothing beats the comfort of a story told by a parent or grandparent. With "generic" stories being told on a global platform, we are missing the spice of individuality that each and every grandparent brought to his or her narration. With technology being so omnipresent in the lives of these silver foxes, we feel we have the best ingredients in place to make sure that distributed families get to be a part of each others lives, as well as, save their stories for posterity.
