About Solving Plastic Waste CRC

Plastics play a major role in the global economy, benefiting industries like agriculture, healthcare, packaging, construction, and transportation. However, the existing linear plastic value chain is unsustainable and sees most of the end-of-life value of the plastics lost. The result is plastic waste pollution which is a major environmental challenge. The Solving Plastic Waste Cooperative Research Centre will enhance end-user collaboration with the research sector to address this national challenge across the entire plastics value chain. This will accelerate Australia's progress towards eliminating plastic pollution, establishing a circular and climate-neutral plastic economy, and growing its advanced manufacturing sector. The Centre will deliver major economic and environmental benefits, and PhD students and researchers trained for careers in Australia’s transformed plastics industry.
