SSHERC – Sharon Springs Holocaust Education & Remembrance Center A Village of Refuge. A Legacy Reborn. SSHERC is an emerging living remembrance center in Sharon Springs, NY — a village once home to Holocaust survivors, Jewish immigrants, and sacred cultural resilience. We are restoring the original “Russian Row “ boarding houses still standing with furnishings , empty and decaying to create the first immersive, post-Holocaust recovery village in America. This is not a museum of death. It is a sanctuary of renewal — rural, rooted, and real. At SSHERC, we tell the story no one else is telling: What happened after the camps. Where people went. How they healed. What they rebuilt. Our work blends historical preservation, immersive storytelling, and cultural programming to serve as both remembrance site and educational anchor for New York State.
