About Starfysh Founded in 2010, Starfysh is dedicated to restoring dignity and hope to the people of La Gonave, Haiti. Often called "The Forgotten Haiti," La Gonave is home to 100,000 of the poorest people on the planet, largely neglected by the rest of the world. Through our sustainable development work in community health, education, and agriculture, we aim to break the cycle of poverty. Our Vision: To see La Gonave become an island of flourishing, whose people are healthy, prosperous, and whole. Compassion, Dignity, and Hope—One Life at a Time. Starfysh’s work is built on three pillars: Community Health: We focus on preventive care to save lives and improve life expectancy. While we treat the sick, our primary goal is to prevent illness through education on hygiene, nutrition, and clean water. Education: Literacy is the key to unlocking potential. We equip La Gonave’s youth with the knowledge and leadership skills to create a brighter future. Additionally, we provide adult education and skilled trades training for community members to secure meaningful employment. Agriculture: Agriculture is critical to La Gonave’s sustainability. Through our "Life Garden" demonstration farm, we promote self-sufficiency by teaching families to grow their own food, while improving the island’s ecology through soil restoration.
