Stave & Thief Society

Moonshine University is home to the Stave & Thief Society, a comprehensive, hands-on Bourbon certification program established to promote Kentucky’s distinguished Bourbon culture. Through a standardized training program recognized as the Kentucky Distillers’ Association’s official Bourbon education course, Stave & Thief Society certifies hospitality and retail professionals, Bourbon enthusiasts, and bartenders as Executive Bourbon Stewards. With this lifetime professional distinction comes the expertise they need to go forth and knowledgably share their love of America’s only native spirit. We offer a world-class, educational experience focused on Bourbon, its production, history, and relationship to other world whiskies. Attendees who pass their certification exam become lifetime Bourbon Stewards. Hands-on and distanced learning options are available.
