With the StopUP project 11 partners want to get a better understanding of pollution loads and pathways in urban catchments from different types of roads, other paved surfaces, industrial and commercial estates, and roof run-off.
This knowledge will assist in effectively targeted interventions through source control, retention, and treatment measures.
Furthermore, knowledge about pollutant release and transport processes and impacts on receiving water bodies (e.g., ecological relevance) can be gained by utilising recent advances in monitoring methods, including online sensors in the field and data processing and appropriate models and data sciences.
