Stratakos Lab - Food Research

We are an interdisciplinary and diverse state-of-the-art research Lab based in Bristol, UK. Our aim is to transform the food supply chain by offering reliable and robust research-based solutions on food safety, food processing, food sustainability, functional food product development and animal welfare. We use innovative technologies, including Cold atmospheric plasma, 3D printing, Microfluidics and Green extraction methods to enhance the food supply chain's sustainability, safety and quality. We have a track record in: • Developing cold atmospheric plasma technology for food applications. • Manufacturing food-grade delivery vehicles for bioactive compounds for food fortification. • Launching commercial products (feed additives) for reducing Campylobacter levels in the poultry industry. • Manufacturing 3D-printed antimicrobial surfaces for reducing the spread of pathogens. Our work bridges the gap between academic research and commercial realisation by developing innovative interventions that address the pains of the supply chain.
