Building off our expertise in solar electric stratospheric aircraft, StratoSolutions seeks to Unlock the Stratosphere with fixed wing and lighter than air platforms. StratoSolutions has developed the HAB-StratoSonde system - a long endurance high altitude balloon (HAB) that carries a payload of tiny weather data sensors called micro-dropsondes. The HAB-StratoSonde is capable of navigating to desired regions of interest and dispensing these micro-dropsondes from the stratosphere on demand to collect complete in situ vertical columns of meteorological data from the stratosphere down to sea-level. This is an enabling capability for automated meteorological data gathering in remote regions.
