S.A.F.E. Supporting Abortions For Everyone

Abortion should be available to anyone who needs or wants one. The patchwork of abortion provision and restrictions across Europe often means that abortions are not always accessible to all. We're here to level the playing field – by Supporting Abortions for Everyone (SAFE) SAFE exists to support the grassroots activists helping people get abortion across Europe. While they do the frontline work, SAFE will underpin their efforts with admin, fundraising, knowledge curation, training and more. SAFE is an abortion fund which launched February 2023. Based in The Netherlands, where abortion is available in clinics until the 22nd week of pregnancy, SAFE works with pro-abortion activists, networks, and providers across Europe to support access to abortions for everyone who needs or wants one. SAFE will support abortions for everyone in the following four ways: by funding abortion activist groups, by building pathways between abortions and people who want abortions, collecting and sharing knowledge and best practices, and by finding and inspiring champions to advocate for abortion access across Europe. We will help grow and shape Europe’s abortion fund movement by sharing funds, capability and capacity and know-how across a range of organizations. We recognise the existence of multiple and diverse organisations doing work in this space and do not seek to replicate or duplicate. It can sometimes take a village to arrange an abortion, and the more people and organisations doing this work, in diverse and wonderful ways, the better. SAFE will support and add value to the existing movement by partnering with smaller and more grassroots organisations, adding to their capacity and effectiveness.
