Three legendary brands that pioneered modern Mexican cuisine, featured by over 2 million handmade tortillas, flavored salts to over 2 million margaritas using fresh squeezed juices in all of its cocktails, and the use of graffiti art - way before it become cool/acceptable. Moreover, the service execution was complemented by a strong staff culture & long tenure. Takito Kitchen, Bar Takito & Takito Street had a strong run up until the year 2024, where a weak Chicago retail economy, wild inflation & higher than normal crime would force it to close. Mario Ponce, Proprietor explains, "we had 10 solid years, and one really bad one in 2024; worse, we didn't believe 2025 would be better it no longer made good economic sense to remain open." In fact, the Chicago marketplace has been wrecked with restaurant closings not seen since the Great Recession of 2007-2008. Retail spaces remind us how fragile the local economy is. On the bright side, Takito Brands enjoyed award winning success, served nearly a million guests successfully, employing hundreds and gave over $300k to local charities. Ponce continues, "we can walk and talk proudly about a restaurant brand that loved."
