The Los Angeles region was one of Teach For America’s original sites opened in 1990. For over three decades we have served the immensely talented and diverse students and families in communities which have been historically abandoned by the nation’s education system. Where a child is born still determines educational and life opportunities. At TFA LA we know we must entirely transform education, putting equity and the needs of students at the center. This is why we are a leadership organization focused on co-creating an equitable and inclusive future starting in classrooms with students. Our leadership force mirrors Los Angeles’ dynamic and varied peoples. We believe that one day all children will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. We must fuel the talent pipeline at all levels of the education system in order for this to happen. As such, it’s our mission is to find, develop, and support a diverse network of leaders who expand opportunity for children from classrooms, schools, and every sector that shapes the broader systems in which schools operate.
