Team Caleb began in 2015, when our close friend, Caleb Maeir, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 16. As a humble group of high-schoolers, we formed Team Caleb so he knew that no matter how hard it got, he always had a huge team behind him.
Prior to his diagnosis, Caleb was an avid sports player; between basketball and baseball, he was a model athlete, setting the ultimate precedent for sportsmanship and leadership. He faced his illness the same way he faced any opponent—head on and with a smile on his face.
Of everything Caleb endured during his three year battle, one of the hardest parts was not being able to play the games he loved. While there was nothing we could do to get Caleb back in the game, there are millions of children throughout the US who are sidelined due to unfortunate circumstances. In Caleb’s memory, we have made it our mission to provide sports programs in underprivileged communities with the necessary funds and equipment to play the sports every child loves. Because at the end of the day, everyone deserves to play.
