Tech@Católica

Tech@Católica is an student-run initiative to deliver a tech skill building pipeline. We are encouraging and promoting tech entrepreneurship, data literacy, and a new culture of risk-taking and reward among business students that usually choose secure, conventional careers in meta-industries like finance, marketing, and consulting. In industrialized countries, we face a big problem: smart students disproportionately join big bureaucracies, NGOs, and corporations, but small businesses show 100% higher job creation and 13x higher patent generation. We want smart people to build things/create new value and therefore we equip them with the most relevant skills in the new digital age. We see data analytics coding skills, digital experience and anthropomorphized technology design as the target skill set for tech entrepreneurship. To facilitate precisely this skill building in the student community, we provide a set of different learning experiences. We are collaborating with coding schools and educators around Lisbon to host coding events & hackathons. We research tech's impact on society and the future of work. We hold panel debates open to the broad public and we organize design sprints with the best product designers in town. Inclusivity is one of our core values on that path. We are aiming to empower students of all genders/backgrounds/abilities/ethnicities to gain first experiences. We are building partnerships and networks to spread the message and we always aim to default to providing access of our work to the broad public. Contact us!
