The Technical Electrocatalysis Laboratory is focused on the design of advanced nano-structured materials combined with in-situ, operando and ex-situ analytical techniques for various electrochemical reactions, that are occurring in low temperature fuel cell and water electrolysis systems.
Since 2019, the Technical Electrocatalysis Laboratory has been headed by Prof. Dr. Mehtap Oezaslan and Dr. Frédéric Hasché. In 2025, Dr. Hauke Heller joined the management team.
After five successful and amazing years at Technische Universität Braunschweig (2019-2024), we are now located at the Universität Hamburg – University of Excellence (UHH).
Our research is committed to a sustainable future and supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) proposed from the United Nations in 2015.
Partnerships among the different disciplines in research and development, countries and nations as well as academia, companies, government and society support and encourage our work on affordable and clean energy technologies such as low temperature fuel cells and water electrolysis. Green hydrogen produced by renewable energy plays a key role in the energy transition in various sectors.
Together with our lectures, seminars and lab courses in various bachelor´s and master´s programs, we ensure an inclusive and equitable quality education for our students. We also promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
