Terrain-AI

Terrain-AI is advancing the standards of measurement, monitoring, verification and reporting of carbon stocks and emissions across complex environments. We are developing innovative AI solutions and technologies, integrated with computational models, to provide more accurate estimates of carbon fluxes across scales, and a deeper understanding of the effects of human activities, to enable decision makers to develop more effective climate mitigation strategies. Lead from Maynooth University, Terrain-AI is jointly funded (€5m) by Microsoft Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and is in collaboration with Teagasc, Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, Dublin City University, and University of Limerick. Other key collaborators include government departments: Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine, Department of Transport, government agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency, Met Éireann, National Parks & Wildlife Service, National Transport Authority, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Marine Institute and Ordnance Survey Ireland as well as Dublin City Council. Irish Industry will also be collaborating with inputs from Coillte, Bord na Mona as well as technology SME companies; Treemetrics, Icon Group, Net Feasa and Anuland.
