TERRA UMA

Terra Uma is a non-profit organization offering a Vinotherapy program for military veterans coping with PTSD (Post Trauma Stress Disorder.) The participants make a personal wine, with the assistance of some of Israel's finest winemakers who generously volunteer. Each wine, with its own label and personalized text, is an expression of a person's private struggle from trauma to growth. Terra Uma was founded by Tomer Weinberg who himself was seriously wounded. He had to cope with the debilitating effects of post trauma for well over a decade. It was his personal involvement in winemaking which enabled him to recover. He founded Terra Uma to share the concept with others. He has proved that viticulture and winemaking can bring positive and dramatic changes to people dealing with physical and psychological injury. Terra Uma's vineyard is at Bat Shlomo in the northern Coastal Plain, east of Zichron Ya'acov. Their wine is called Layla, which means 'night', always a fraught time from those dealing with trauma. Vinotherapy is a totally new and original concept, and Terra Uma is the first of its type.
